FLOOD CLAIM -Request for Additional Payment (RAP) – What I Need From You
Request for Additional Payment guidance explaining what documentation is needed for missed or additional flood-related damages.
Template use: Replace placeholders such as POLICYHOLDER, claim-specific dates, amounts, Carrier names, and loss details before sending. Keep the adjuster authority disclaimer intact unless a Carrier/IA firm requires alternate wording.
Hello POLICYHOLDER, Our original claim and Proof of Loss has been submitted to the Carrier for review and consideration of payment. If you believe there are additional flood-related damages that were missed or underpaid on your SFIP claim, you may seek a Request for Additional Payment (RAP), sometimes called a “supplement.” A RAP is not automatic. Any additional payment must be supported by documentation showing: (1) the damage is flood-related, (2) it is covered under the SFIP, and (3) it was not previously included. Just like our original claim, I will compile the RAP on your behalf to present to the Carrier, but you must provide the documentation required. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHAT TO SEND ME (REQUIRED) For EACH additional item you’re requesting, please provide: 📷 PHOTOS • Clear photos of the damage in place (before removal, if possible) • Close-up + wider “context” photo showing location (room/area) 📝 WRITTEN DESCRIPTION • What the item is, where it is (room/area), and what you’re claiming (repair vs. replace) • A brief explanation of why it wasn’t included before (examples: concealed until demolition/dry-out, not accessible at inspection, discovered later, incorrect material previously paid, etc.) 🧾 PROOF OF COST • Paid invoice/receipt if already completed, OR • Contractor estimate/quote if not completed (certain incurred costs may require a paid invoice, as required by the Carrier) • Documentation must describe the work/materials clearly 📦 ADDITIONAL CONTENTS (IF APPLICABLE) If you’re requesting additional payment for contents (personal property), please also provide: • A contents list showing: item, quantity, brief description (brand/model if known), the room/area where it was located, approximate price to replace the item today, approximate age of the item of loss • Photos of each damaged content item (in place if possible), and showing the physical floodwater damage on the item • If the item is over $500, also include a price verification in the form of a receipt, estimate, or screenshot of the same item or of closest like kind and quality (LKQ) ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ HOW TO SEND Email everything to gutflood@outlook.com <mailto:gutflood@outlook.com> . If files are large, you may use a shared drive link or ask me and I can provide a secure upload link. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHAT HAPPENS NEXT Once received, I will review your documentation, and if it supports additional covered flood damages, I will compile and submit a RAP package to the Carrier for their consideration. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ COVERAGE REMINDER The SFIP can only consider flood-related damages that are covered by the policy. Items excluded by the SFIP or damages from non-flood cannot be considered. If you’re not sure whether an item may be eligible, email me whatever documentation you currently have and I’ll advise what we will likely need for each item to be considered within a RAP. I cannot approve or deny coverage or authorize payment. Final claim decisions are made only by the carrier. Christopher T.
