Mortgagee & Check Release Guidance
Why claim checks may include a mortgagee and what insureds should expect after payment is issued.
Why a Mortgagee May Appear
- If a mortgagee is listed on the policy, claim payments may include the mortgagee as a payee.
- This can require the insured to work with the mortgage company to endorse or release funds.
What to Expect
- The Carrier reviews the claim and issues payment if owed.
- A physical check may be mailed, depending on the Carrier’s process.
- The mortgagee may require paperwork, inspections, or repair progress before releasing funds.
