Dryout & Mitigation Documentation

How to document emergency mitigation, drying, demo, cleaning, and related services.

Helpful Mitigation Records

  • Mitigation company estimate or invoice with itemized quantities, dates, equipment, labor, and rooms/areas serviced.
  • Moisture readings, drying logs, equipment placement maps, and photos.
  • Before/during/after photos showing floodwater impact, demo, cleaning, and drying efforts.
  • Clear separation of flood-related mitigation from unrelated cleaning, maintenance, or remodeling.

Equipment Documentation

  • List each air mover, dehumidifier, HEPA/air scrubber, extraction unit, generator, or other equipment used.
  • Show the dates each item was used and where it was placed.
  • Keep the scope tied to flood-damaged building materials and the affected areas.

Avoid These Problems

  • Invoices with only a lump sum and no quantities.
  • Charges for areas not affected by floodwater.
  • Work performed after covered materials were already removed without explanation.
