Contractor Estimate & Invoice Guidance
What contractor documents should include so the Carrier can evaluate flood-related scope and pricing.
Helpful Contractor Documents Include
- Company name, contact information, date, insured/property information, and clear description of the work.
- Itemized line items with quantities, measurements, unit costs, labor, material, and totals.
- Clear separation between flood-related repairs and upgrades, remodeling, maintenance, code improvements, or unrelated work.
- Room-by-room or area-by-area breakdown when possible.
- Photos supporting the scope, especially for materials removed before inspection.
Common Problems
- Lump-sum proposals with no measurements or line-item breakdown.
- Scopes that include non-flood work mixed together with flood repairs.
- Upgrade pricing without support for like-kind and quality replacement.
- Permit, code upgrade, warranty, maintenance, or overhead charges that are not tied to direct physical flood damage.
Payment Reminder
- NFIP claim payments are generally issued to the insured and any required mortgagee/loss payee, not directly to contractors.
